Maksym Mazur
Afterimage
Afterimage is a term from the physiology of vision that describes a phenomenon: when we look at an intense colour or light, a ghostly trace remains in the eye even after the source has disappeared. In this context, it becomes a metaphor for the memory of light — an experience that extends beyond the physical phenomenon itself and continues to exist within us.
The project addresses light as a mode of perception that resists instrumentalization. Flows of light and colour frequencies are mutable and non-objective: they have no function, do not seek control, and do not impose meanings. In contrast, information flows are almost always constructed as mechanisms for manipulating attention.
Maksym Mazur transfers his exploration of the expressiveness of light and colour into the exhibition space, inviting the viewer to interact with the objects and the installation.
