Fragments and Illusions

In collaboration with Eva Neidlinger.

In the project “Fragments and Illusions” by Eva Neidlinger and Maksym Mazur, realized at Lab Instytut Avtomatyky, concrete serves as the primary material that brings together the artistic practices of both authors.

The artists sought to identify shared visual connections within its raw, tactile character, employing very different methods and media.

As concrete hardens, it acquires structural permanence; however, the associations and images it evokes remain deeply individual and context-dependent.

Eva and Maksym, coming from different countries, work with the material in ways that render their works reflections of their personal experiences of fragmentation and resilience. Within their collaborative project, cultural, linguistic, and identity differences recede into the background, while the focus shifts to the creative process itself. This emphasizes the importance of shared practice, in which art becomes a universal language for mutual understanding and for overcoming barriers between cultures.

The exhibition was joined by Serhii Avdieiev, who created the work “Continuous Melody”, based on sounds recorded by Eva and Maksym while working with concrete in the studio. This contribution became an important element of the exhibition, adding a new dimension to the overall concept of the project.
